Humbling remembrance

Today on my way in to work there was an exhibit on the Holocaust throughout the hallway of the building. It was a chilling reminder of this terrible time in history. I had the opportunity to visit Dachau when I was in Munich three years ago and I still can't erase the pictures etched into my memory.

I think it is important that we have reminders like this exhibit to keep us from forgetting things that have happened in the past. History is often doomed to repeat itself if we don't learn from the mistakes that have been made.

I recently read a book set in Nazi Germany called The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It is written from the perspective of Death. The location of the story occurs near Munich. I highly recommend it as a unique approach to the story of the Holocaust. I will definitely never forget.

These are a few of my favorite things

When it comes to technology I would have to say that I am a laggard, 100%. I can say this because I am dating an early adopter. However, the I-phone was probably one of the best gifts I have ever received. It has allowed me to capture photos of some of my very favorite things. I hope this montage will pictorally share with you the things I have captured on my fancy and not so new-fangled phone the past couple of months.

These are all things that make me happy.

Sunsets over my roof in Jefferson City. Riley the dog to my left and my mom to my right.

Girls on the run weekly practices.

Street fairs/vibrant communities.

Romance.

The ocean.

Comfy things like....
My bed...

My manatee (yes, I sleep with a manatee, every night for ~18 years). It has been a long and very special love affair. I don't expect you to understand.

Snuggies... and the medical students that they keep toasty warm.

Healthy potluck lunches at work.

The heaping plate of healthy food from healthy potluck lunches.

Walks in the park.

Making jewelry.

Outdoor ice skating rinks.

When my protege smiles back at me.

When my food smiles back at me....
Veggie grins...

Chocolate chuckles...

Blueberry giggles.

Need I say more?

Cat-sitting for Annie.

Artwork in unexpected places.

Re-united and it feels so good

Mom and I were up to no good in the aisles of Target. We saw these fun headbands (I think they were for little kids) and we both chose our favorite and took a couple of candid photos of ourselves. Sure we got some stares... but that has never stopped the Dreisinger girls before.

This Easter, among other things, I was thankful for my mom and all of the traits she has passed on to me. Her sense of humor is something I am glad to have inherited. I hope I always remain as happy-go-lucky as she is everyday.
